Owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will receive a free “next-gen” upgrade to current-gen PS5 and Xbox X/S consoles in 2022. Fans have been waiting for the opportunity to see every detail of the grizzled white wolf ever since the The improvement was first announced in 2020. PC gamers need not worry, as the new features that come with the update will also come to the PC version. The expanded edition of The Witcher 3 was supposed to be released in the second half of 2021 and then delayed until the second quarter of 2022. Unfortunately, no word has been given as to the reason for this setback, but the abrupt launch of Cyberpunk 2077 is a likely suspect.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on May 18, 2015 and received two expansions. Players were immediately drawn to the expansive open world topped with stunning visuals and thrilling combat. Fans have been left in the dark as to why the upgraded version was delayed in the first place. On October 20, 2021, CD Projekt Red tweeted a Production Update for gamers to inform them that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 would be pushed back to the second quarter of 2022. This disappoints fans who were excited about the Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 upgrades planned for 2021. cyberpunk The 2077 update has also been delayed, although that game’s launch likely made the prospect more complicated.

The reason given for the further delay was that the decision was, “Based on recommendations provided by the teams overseeing the development of both games.” Most likely, CD Projekt Red does not want to repeat the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and makes sure upgrades are as neat as possible. Based on the details given for the new release, Witcher 3 fans will be able to experience the captivating open-world gameplay like never before.

Based on reports, the next-gen upgrade may feature improvements from a notable modder who goes by the name of Halk Hogan. In an article by Kotakuthey reported on Halk’s announcement that his creation of The Witcher 3 HD reworked project can be officially implemented in the new version. CD Projekt Red has not yet confirmed this collaboration, but Witcher 3 has undergone many changes since launch, and given that Halk has already made major improvements to the base game’s graphics, a prolific modder officially working with the devs could make for the best overall upgrade. Whether the collaboration takes place or not, players can expect to enjoy The Witcher 3 at 60 FPS and 4K resolution for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in Q2 2022.
