What to expect from Square Enix at E3 2021

Square Enix should have quite a few games to show us based on what we saw at the last developer Presents event. These are just a few of the games we plan to see in the coming weeks, but expect more as it may also feature new unannounced games and smaller games not mentioned here.

Final Fantasy XVI

This one is a bit obvious, but we’ve been waiting for an update on Final Fantasy XVI. We already have a lot of details about the characters and world, and we know the game is already well in development. All we need now is a big gameplay reveal, especially after Final Fantasy XVI was absent in the last Square Enix Presents event. The only tricky thing is that it’s already confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive, which means Sony could save it for its own presentation.

Origin of Final Fantasy

Square Enix may not have just one, but two Final Fantasy games in store for us. Origin of Final Fantasy is so far rumored to be an action-RPG spin-off by the developer of Nioh Team Ninja, which already makes it pretty exciting. An alpha demo of the game is slated to release this summer, so seeing the game on stage might be the perfect time for a reveal trailer.

Dragon Quest XII: Flame of Destiny

It’s almost certain that we’ll see some Dragon Quest XII: The Flame of Fate trailer or gameplay footage during Square Enix Presents. The game was officially confirmed just a few weeks ago when Square Enix presented a title card at the end of a livestream celebrating the series’ 35th anniversary.

Life is Strange: True Colors

Life is Strange: True Colors already has a lot of limelight with reveal trailers and developer commentary during the last Square Enix Presents Spring event, but we hope to see some more footage from the game. release planned for September, so we expect to see at least one new trailer.

sorry

sorry (aka the game formerly known as Project Athia) is one of the games we’re most excited to see more of at E3 2021. This adventure game is basically Warframe with magic thanks to its race at the top of a cliff, magical shooting action. We’ve got an extended trailer and trailer, and we’re hoping to see an extended gameplay clip from Forspoken in a few weeks.

Tomb Raider Anime Series

We expect Tomb Raider to definitely make an appearance at E3 2021 to celebrate its 25 anniversary. We don’t expect to see the announcement of a new game, as the developer of the reboot trilogy has stated that they will not be making “a major game announcement in the near future.” What’s definitely confirmed is a new Tomb Raider animated series in development at Netflix, and we expect to see at least one trailer.
