While Far Cry 6 takes advantage of the power of the new consoles, Ubisoft will not abandon the millions of existing owners of the latest generation machines.
Far cry 6The game’s impressive graphics were one of the few things that stood out during the gameplay reveal of the game on Friday. But good graphics can often worry PS4 and Xbox One owners, and they have one hell of a reason for doing so.
Far Cry 6 is, of course, far from the only major open-world game to be released on both generations of consoles. Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch on PS4 and Xbox One still stings the many who are now more cautious when excited about the games to come.
Ubisoft recognizes this and plans to show the game running on PS4 and Xbox One. David Grivel from Ubisoft Toronto said VGC that while Far Cry 6 will push PS5 and Xbox Series X, the developer wants to make sure it performs well on PS4 and Xbox One as well.
“Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll definitely start showing more on different platforms,” said Grivel.
“What I can say, and I can’t go into that much detail on the specs or things like that, is that on both the previous gen and the new gen Xbox Series and PS5 the game is performing well. “
When asked if the team overall expects the last-gen versions to suffer from any issues, Grivel explained, “No. We really aim to strive for maximum quality across all of these platforms. “
“We’re really, really careful about this, so we’ll be showing more details and more information very soon,” he added.
As for how Far Cry 6 will use the power of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Grivel has confirmed that the game will run at 4K 60fps, which is still nice to see.
“One detail I can add about the new generation is that it allowed us to run the game at 60 FPS and 4K, which is really cool,” said Grivel. “I’ve tested it on kits in the company and I can certainly see that as a good thing on the new generation, but that doesn’t mean the previous generation is being abandoned in any way.”
Far Cry 6 releases October 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Stadia, and Luna.
