The beloved point-and-click, queer-cyberpunk-mystery adventure game 2064: Read-only memories is currently free for one day! To celebrate new and upcoming releases, developer MidBoss is making its first Kickstarter-funded title available on the Epic game store.
Located in Neo-San Francisco, players enter the world of sci-fi as an investigative journalist immersed in the plots and machinations of scientists and AI revolutionaries. They team up with intelligent AI, Turing, to change the direction of IT and uncover aggravating mysteries.
The game has garnered a lot of attention for its portrayals of homosexuality and transhumanism. The player can choose from a range of pronouns and neo-pronouns, or define custom ones as well. Additionally, the diverse and unique cast of characters embodies the eerie potential of a cybernetic future that is often neglected or pathologized in the genre.
The original game was released on PC along with the late Ouya and Razer Forge. After its successful launch, it has since arrived on PS4, Vita, Xbox One, Mobile, and Switch.
The promotion coincides with the release of the Read-only memories commercial paperback by IDW Publishing, a four-chapter interstitial story set after 2064 and before an upcoming sequel. Written by Sina Grace with the art of Stefano Simeone, the comic continues the mystery in Santa Cruz with private investigator Lexi Rivers.
Lexi and a returning cast of 2064 the characters become the main cast of Read-only memories: NEURODIVER. Announced in 2019, the projects are currently expected to be launched in early 2022.
Neurodiver will be released on current and next-gen consoles and on PC, Linus, and Mac via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A demo titled Pilot memory is available to To smoke and Epic game store.
