The Sims 4 just got out werewolves, its twelfth game pack. Although the focus is on the new werewolf life state introduced in the game, The Sims 4 also added several nifty references to Final Fantasy 14 in the new item descriptions added in the pack.
The references were shared by SimGuruNova, a producer on The Sims 4 and a passionate Final Fantasy 14 player–on his personal Twitter. She was the Maxis developer responsible for integrating the FF14 references in the new werewolves game pack.
SimGuruNova shared two distinct objects: the large teak-a rack shelves and the seventh confectioner’s Calamity firewood rack. The first is a reference to the Shadowbringers zone, the Raktika Greatwood, and its item description has several clever callbacks to the critically acclaimed expansion, including several lyrics straight from the Shadowbringers theme song. The second element refers to both A kingdom is reborn and Endwalkerwith the seventh umbral calamity, references to a rupture and a textual quotation from Venat, one of Endwalker new characters that stole the show.
The official The Sims Twitter also had fun. He commented on SimGuruNova’s post with lyrics often referred to from Raktika Greatwood’s atmospheric soundtrack in Final Fantasy 14. The verified Final Fantasy 14 Twitter then responded to their post, prompting FF14 fans to beg for an official crossover between the two popular games.
Thousands of Final Fantasy 14 and The Sims 4 fans interacted with SimGuruNova’s post, surprising her with the crossover between Simmers and Warriors of Light. Fans flocked to the comments section to reminisce Shadowbringersask SimGuruNova about it Final Fantasy 14 character and celebrate the collision of two of their favorite games.
The Sims 4: Werewolves finally added the ability to play lycanthropes to the newest The Sims Title. The popular mechanic first appeared on the show during The Sims 2: Petsand again in The Sims 3: Supernatural. Previous The Sims 4 game packs and expansions added the ability to play aliens, vampires, mermaids, mages and robots in the game, so it was only a matter of time before werewolves did their triumphant return.
