We’ve seen a lot of variety in the modding community this week. From much-requested features – like more Battlefront 2 characters and a better camera mode for Cyberpunk – to a whole heap of Stardew Valley shitposting, we sure didn’t run out of mods to talk about.
All that and more in our roundup of the biggest mods of the last seven days.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Mod Adds Over 25 New Characters
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 may have disappointed many at launch, but fans felt let down when its DLC was dropped. Now, two years after development ended, players can experience some of what was planned – and much more. A total of 29 new characters have been added via the new modBattlefront 2022. This includes fan favorites such as Ahsoka, Jango Fett, Mace Windu, Jyn Erso and many more.
Cyberpunk 2077 fan-made camera mode removes most restrictions
Cyberpunk 2077‘s camera mode is pretty good – too good, some (me) would say, with a folder full of screenshots. But there are annoying restrictions that prevent you from posing V and Johnny as you wish. Fortunately, we now have a fan-made camera mode that gives us a lot more freedom. For starters, there’s no collision, so you can get characters as close together as you want. Johnny and V are also getting a bunch of new poses, and they look great. It’s perfect for anyone who would love to waste another 100 hours taking selfies of V, as if we needed some help with that.
Skyrim Mod adds Elden Ring style messages for other players
One of the best features of Elden Ring is its messaging system. Nothing beat launch week, where “try finger but hole” welcomed all new players. Now this feature has arrived in Skyrim – via a mod, anyway. The Building Bridges mod is actually a step up from FromSoft’s offerings, as it doesn’t limit you to predefined words. No, you can leave whatever message you want. May God help us all.
You can now save Kaidan and Ashley with this Mass Effect Legendary Edition mod
Kaidan or Ashley? This debate has been going on for years among Mass Effect fans. Of course, it seems like most players chose “why not both?” approach in recent years, but the human duo has its fans. And now those fans can save themselves heartache. A new mod lets you finish the first Mass Effect with Kaidan and Ashley still breathing at the end, restoring cut content that lets you save them both on Virmire. Future mod updates will look to carry that decision over to Mass Effect 2 and 3, giving you a very different experience from their vanilla stories.
Grandpa’s bed mods are taking over Stardew Valley and they’re glorious
If there’s one thing that flooded your newsfeed this week (it’s not bad real-world news), it’s probably Stardew Valley’s grandpa bed mods that have taken over. community control. For some reason, fans have taken it upon themselves to shit the hell out of your dead grandpa in the game, releasing mods that turn him into everything from Kirby to a ping pong table. Since then, it’s gotten even wilder. Some take the bed out completely and lay it on the floor — in the iconic “dead person in Family Guy” pose, of course. Another makes him sleep inside the envelope he holds in his hand. And in turn, replaces the envelope with a very small bed. Creativity is as impressive as it is terrifying.
