Human or replicant? Moviegoers have been debating this question ever since Harrison Ford brought Rick Deckard to the big screen. But soon this question will mean something very different: “Which role do you prefer to play?” Because the new RPG Blade Runner will transform your table into a cyberpunk dystopia.
The Free League edition announced it is launching a Kickstarter on May 3 for his new role-playing game. It takes place in the dreary world where androids dream of electric sheep. (They do, don’t they?). But this game is not based on Philip K. Dick’s novel. RPG Blade Runner takes place in the universe of the films, in a story that takes place between the original film and Blade Runner 2049.
Here is the official synopsis:
Blade Runner RPG launches players through the neon black streets of Los Angeles as Blade Runners. Set in the year 2037, the adventures begin shortly after Wallace Corporation launches the new Nexus-9 replicants on Earth, giving players the choice of playing as human Blade Runners or replicants with different specialties, personalities, and memories.

This tabletop adventure will do more than take you on a journey through the show’s rainy world. It will also explore themes from the films. Free League says in both “setting and mechanics,” the game highlights “sci-fi action, corporate intrigue, existential character drama, and moral conflict.” All in a way that “encourages role-playing and challenges players to question your orders, empathize with your enemies, and make tough calls with high stakes and lasting implications” .

The publisher originally announced the development of the game last September. And the initial teaser video prepared us to take the Voight-Kampff test to prove we should be allowed to play.
Although we now have some first glimpses of the Core Rulebook, the official site of the game and social media channels will announce more information ahead of the Kickstarter launch. It will go live at 9 a.m. ET on May 3. If you plan to support the RPG Blade Runner, act fast when the Kickstarter goes live. Pledges placed in the first 24 hours come with a bonus item that Free League will reveal soon.
