Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition is on sale, but you might want to wait to buy it

The complete edition of Final Fantasy XIV (a game you may have heard of due to its free trial, which includes the award-winning Heavensward expansion and lets you play up to level 60 without paying anything) is currently on sale across multiple platforms for $ 23, corresponding to an all-time low price.

We’re not sure why, as there is some crucial additional context to this sale. This full edition will only be “full” for about three weeks before the game’s fourth expansion, Endwalker, released. Therefore, Endwalker is not included in this sale, so you will have to pay full price when it comes out.

If you literally start the game now, then this sale makes some meaning (you have a while before accessing new content unless you want to play as Viera or Hrothgar), but otherwise it’s not a good deal. The full edition is currently $ 23, and Endwalker will be $ 40 when released, making the total purchase around $ 63 before taxes.

But, once the expansion launches, Square will add it to future purchases of the Full Edition, which still carries an MSRP of $ 60 (the pricing intention being that a new player will always pay $ 60 for all content. published). So unless you start from zero or only finished Toward the sky and i can’t wait another three weeks to play Stormblood, this is essentially a reverse sale. Yes, this is only for a minor amount, but it seems like an unnecessarily additional hassle for gamers.
