Update 1.02 has arrived for Final Fantasy VII Remake and here is the full list of changes and fixes added with this patch. It once felt like a game that would never come out, but it finally did so last spring with a lot of praise. While exclusive to the PS4 at the time, the game does get a free upgrade as well as exclusive DLC for the upcoming PS5. As a result of this upcoming upgrade, Square Enix had to prepare the existing game to prepare for this upgrade. Here’s everything new with Final Fantasy VII Remake update 1.02.
Final Fantasy VII Remake patch 1.02 patch notes
- Added ability to transfer save data to PlayStation 5 console version.
Interestingly enough, this is only the second update the game has received since its initial launch on PS4. The first update came back in October and was only listed as “Fixed various bugs”. This one is a bit more specific though, while being very focused on one thing.
While you might have thought that this update might actually make some backend changes related to the PS5 version, the only thing left here is as stated in the singular patch note above. This is to add the ability to move your save data from the PS4 version of the game to the PS5 version when it launches next week. Specifically, it has added a new icon to the game’s main menu that lets you download your save in advance. Then when you launch the PS5 version next week which is a free upgrade, you can also download your existing save and keep the trophies.
Final Fantasy VII remake is now available for PS4 and will arrive on PS5 as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade next week alongside the Intermission DLC. For more information on the game, visit the Final Fantasy VII Remake Website.
