Final Fantasy Producer Shares One Piece Love

A play has been telling the story of Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates for decades, with Eiichiro Oda currently working on the series finale arc. While there are more than a few fans who have followed Monkey’s quest to become the new Pirate King, it looks like a top producer from the Final Fantasy series shared his love for the Shonen series. We don’t expect to see any Muggles dropping into the Grand Line world, it shows just how influential A play became.

Final Fantasy XIV has become a juggernaut in the landscape of video games, which is that of massively multiplayer role-playing games. While One Piece never received an MMORPG of its own, the Shonen franchise will return to the world of video games thanks to One Piece: Odyssey. Arriving as the latest game in a long line of One Piece entries, the upcoming video game has been dreamed up by creator Eiichiro Oda and will introduce new characters to the franchise as the Straw Hat Pirates attempt to unravel the mysteries of an island on which they find themselves trapped.

Naoki Yoshida, the producer of the popular MMORPG game, Final Fantasy XIV, took the opportunity to not only proclaim his love for the series, but also to share his wish that “all mankind read A play“:

One Piece: Odyssey will be released at some point this year, although a specific release date has yet to be revealed. If you want more information on the upcoming video game, the official description for Bandai’s role-playing entry reads:

“A Broken Thousand Sunny… Scattered Crew Members… Luffy’s Missing Straw Hat…

During their journey, the Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy are swallowed by a huge storm at sea. They end up on a mysterious island full of nature in the middle of the storm and get separated from each other. The crew embarks on an adventurous new journey filled with the wonders of a raging nature, powerful enemies and strange encounters with the inhabitants of the island. Work with Luffy and his crew to make it back!”

Do you think we will ever see a world where every citizen reads A play? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of Grand Line.
