D&D 5e: The best feats for druids

Druids may be one of the best spellcasters in Dungeons & Dragons, but without the right gifts they can be held back by class weaknesses.

Of all the caster classes in Dungeons & Dragons, Druids have some of the most extraordinary abilities and uses. Whether it’s their classic animal shapeshifting powers or their desire to become a true master of nature, players may want to play a druid for a number of reasons. That said, for all that the Druids can offer, they do have a few weaknesses that can hinder their rise to greatness. Fortunately, D&D has many exploits that players can use to compensate for some of these vulnerabilities.

Achievements are optional perks that players can choose from instead of increasing their ability points for specific levels or during character creation. While many players may want to prioritize increasing their ability scores, Achievements offer different ways to improve a build. Druids can use them to compensate for weaknesses like their low health reserve, allowing for almost broken combinations. Here are the best feats for druids in D&D fifth edition.

Telekinesis allows Druids to make things happen with their minds

The Telekinesis feat grants some notable benefits. First, it increases a character’s Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma. It also teaches the Mage Hand Cantrip, which is not normally available to the class, and allows players to cast the spell without the need for somatic or verbal components. Finally, players can spend a bonus action to attempt to push a creature within 30 feet. This feat also pairs remarkably well with Telepathic.

The increased stats make the feat easier to digest than other options, as taking an exploit usually means giving up on increasing ability scores. However, the real allure of telekinesis is how savvy players can use Mage Hand and their Bonus Action shove. While a druid cannot cast spells after transforming using the wild form, players can work around this issue by casting Mage Hand before their transform. Push has many uses as well, as it’s one of the few backups that a creature can willfully fail. Telekinesis can be a way to push an enemy off the top of a cliff or extend an ally’s charge.

Resilient keeps Druids alive

Often the druids’ greatest enemy is their own lack of resilience. Fortunately, there is one feat that can help keep nature’s benders alive. Resilient allows players to increase their ability score of their choice by one, then master the saves associated with that ability. The obvious choice here for Druids is Constitution, and for those already considering War Caster, the two go together like peas in a pod.

Druids have a noticeably low health and armor class, so having something that can gain a slight advantage in this area is worth the investment. The most important benefit provided by Resilient is mastery of statistics. For a druid, this means easier focus checks, as they are both based on a player’s constitution saving throw and a focal point in the druid’s caster arsenal.

Metamagic Adept empowers a druid’s spells

Metamagic Adept allows druids to dip their toes into some of wizarding spellcasting abilities. The feat allows Druids to learn two metamagic options available to the Wizard class. Players can only use one metamagic effect on a spell when it is cast, unless the magic specifically states otherwise. As players level up, they can change their chosen metamagic options when they get an Ability Score Boost. Druids gain two sorcery points to spend on their metamagic and regain any spent points after a long rest.

Wizard metamagic allows spells to be changed or improved in a number of ways. Although a Druid only has access to two of these options with the feat, they still provide powerful effects. Metamagic can provide powerful effects ranging from increasing a spell’s range or duration to changing the type of elemental damage it deals. These effects can be useful, allowing a druid’s spells to be viable even in the most distressing scenarios.
