Cameron and Anthony are back to talk about the biggest video game news of the week, including the Cyberpunk 2077 update and more!
It’s been a big week for games, given the release of the lost ark, some great news, and more. With all that in mind, Cameron and Anthony have a lot to say about this week’s episode of Game Rant Arcade, although some topics aren’t for the faint-hearted.
First, Infinity Ward confirmed modern warfare 2 next to war zone 2. Although the announcements aren’t exactly shocking after weeks of rumors and the typical Call of Duty release cycle, this is the first confirmation of what fans will be playing to close out the year. Both games are said to be built on a new engine, and it’s unclear whether the latest generation consoles will be supported or not.
Then the Wii U and 3DS eShops are shut down, a move that didn’t sit well with fans. Nintendo has no intention of preserving games on platforms that will be rendered unavailable when stores are disabled, which sparked another conversation about game preservation. It’s a disappointing, but expected move, likely driven by the sale of more Switch consoles.
Additionally, Nintendo hacker Gary Bowser was sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in distributing jailbroken Nintendo software and pirated ROMs. This decision comes back to ongoing conversations about preservation and piracy, and will have interesting ramifications for emulation in the future.
To complete things, a BioShock The film is now in the works at Netflix, following an effort to bring back such a film when the original game is released. Additionally, Martha Is Dead would be censored on PlayStation consoles, which has fans accusing PlayStation of tampering with the art.
