Nomad, Street Kid or Corpo?
Cyberpunk 2077 players will know that before you dive into exploring Night City, you have a choice first. V had to start somewhere, and the game lets you decide where they come from, choosing from one of three defined life paths, each completely different from the other. This allows you a bit more control over your character’s backstory, letting you mold them into the character you want to be.
As with all set choices, fans have their opinion on which is best. Naturally, this led to a debate on the game’s subreddit, in which players are asked to choose their preferred life path and why they think it’s the best. For example, Redditor TechnologyDeep942 thinks the Nomad life path is the best because they enjoy experiencing Night City and all of its glory as an outsider to better reflect their own experience of entering an unfamiliar place.
It’s a pretty compelling argument, but TheScarletRevenger feels the Corpo life path makes more sense from a lore perspective. They argue that having V as a Corp gives them more reason to hate Arasaka than in the Street Kid and Nomad life paths, and that V’s relationship with Jackie also makes more sense, as it is the only life path where both begin. like close friends. Another convincing argument.
Next we have Ok-Refrigerator3436 who prefers the Street Kid life path. They argue that they wanted to start Cyberpunk 2077 as a person and build from the ground up, rather than choosing Corpo starting with everything. NestroyAM also agrees with this argument, saying that starting out as Corpo V gets “super scrappy” once he starts messing around with mercenaries later in the game.
This is a tricky question, but as Ok-Refrigerator3436 also mentions, it doesn’t particularly matter in the end since all life paths end up going in the same direction. Still, a character’s backstory matters to a lot of people, as evidenced by the fact that the Cyberpunk 2077 community doesn’t seem to agree on what’s best.
