ST. LOUIS – Just days before Halloween, the aisles of Johnnie Brock’s Dungeon are teeming with last-minute Halloween shoppers and some costumes are yet to arrive.
âI have been in this business since 1984 and it was the biggest surprise of my entire career,â said Edwin Brock, the owner. “It’s amazing our sales are skyrocketing, over 40 percent.”
This percentage increase is from 2020 and 2019, before COVID. Brock said sales are strong across all categories. âI think they’re just ready to party,â he said.
Brock said some of the most requested costumes are from the Netflix Squid Games series.
Before Halloween season he said they were well stocked but “there was still a fair amount of product stuck on barges in the ocean and I still have a container in the water.”
He’s debated buying more inventory, but he’s glad he did because this Halloween season took him by surprise. He said he was able to rotate and stock up on inventory from multiple locations, instead of being stuck with just one
âIt’s not a big business, it’s a family business here in town and we can make decisions on a dime and change and find a supplier that has a product that we’re not going to get because of the problem. the supply chain. ”
âHalloween is such a fun season and I think they finally want to have some real fun,â Brock said.
