Avatar Legends RPG decimates fundraising goal and sets Kickstarter record

The latest numbers are for the official Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter campaign and they are “absolutely breathtaking”.

Earlier this year, Magpie Games announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of a Avatar: The Last Airbender tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and now that the campaign is over, it’s clear that fans of the acclaimed Nickelodeon series are more than excited to explore the world of bending and spirits in Avatar Legends: The Role-Playing Game.

The Kickstarter campaign for the game won a total of $ 9,535,317, nearly 20 times the original goal of $ 50,000, and in the process broke several records. Not only was the game funded within sixteen minutes of its announcement, but the Avatar TTRPG is also now the 10th best-funded campaign, ninth most supported campaign, and most-funded tabletop RPG of all time on Kickstarter.

The development team was eager to express their appreciation and amazement in the latest campaign update, describing the experience as “absolutely breathtaking”. They thanked their 81,567 backers, writing, “Your feedback, enthusiasm and ideas always help us create strong games, and this project is no different! your support.”

The team went on to explain that they would take a short break to renew and regroup before embarking on work on Avatar Legends: The Role-Playing Game. There is still work to be done in terms of writing and editing the text and finalizing the layout of the rulebook. In addition, the team will be busy creating all the ambitious goals that have been achieved which include world map, dice pack and bag, journal pack with artwork, Wan Shi adventure guide Tong and six additional play books.

Avatar Legends: The Role-Playing Game will allow fans of the animated series to venture into the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The legend of Korra. While the game will allow players to take part in combat, whether it’s bending the elements or throwing a trusty boomerang, it also centers the franchise’s theme of balance. According to the campaign description, “Your hero fights for balance in the world, but also struggles to maintain inner balance while trying to achieve the goals he has set for himself.”

Delivery of Avatar Legends: The Role-Playing Game is expected to happen in February 2022, and the dev team has promised to continuously release updates in the meantime. In addition, they recognize that many Avatar fans may not have been able to participate in the Kickstarter campaign; To make sure these fans don’t miss the opportunity to own the TTRPG, they’ve set up a pre-order store through Backerkit that will remain open until at least October 1.

The two Avatar: The Last Airbender and The legend of Korra are currently available to stream on Netflix.
